Gen is pure love, and it amazes me, too, how her books get progressively better instead of worse as series tend to do. This is exactly how I feel! I keep worrying that somewhere along the line it's going to break down, but so far it hasn't. And all the reports I've heard from people with ARC's of Conspiracy have been completely positive (aka incoherent squees of joy).
The easiest way to spot the HMC quote, in my opinion, is to read Howl and then King right after that. I'll give you a little tiny hint: the quote is one that I skipped over in The Thief, but which has a little more punch in King. It's also something which reveals both Howl and Gen's devious natures.
