Alright, this. This so very, very much. I love your commentary, by the way, and you've really got me thinking even more about some of the scenes that you mentioned, particularly this:

I, too, noticed that Gen seemed to be- maybe *gasp* growing more distant, and I'm hoping that it's not going the direction you mentioned (because Attolia on a murderous rampage after Gen's death would be, well...). But I did notice it. He's changing as the Mede gets closer. And then there's this:

"They aren't dreams to him, Sophos," said Eddis, feeling his arms tighten again around her at the implication. "I believe that the veil for him is always very thin, and that he walks through the world gingerly." -pg 309

Just... there's just something implied in that that makes me shiver every time I reread it. I mean, we know that Gen has a very, ah, special relationship with the gods, but the whole walking gingerly thing... it's interesting.
